Have you always wanted to run
your own business? What were
some of your previous jobs /
companies?
Always. My background is in
programming and database
architecture so the natural
progression for my skills was to build
online applications.
BabyNames.com was my personal foray into
that arena and guided my career
into that direction.
How / when did the idea of your
website / company come about?
I was always interested in names
and when the internet first opened
for public use, I decided to
learn the technology by putting my
"Names Database" online. It
became an immediate hit and was the
first site of its kind.
If you could give readers of
this book one piece of advice when
starting up a business, what
would it be?
To quote Nike: Just Do It.
Don't make excuses, don't make
personal barriers. Jump right
in; get as much information as possible
(like reading this book), but
don't be afraid to just forge ahead.
