We are a software company, dedicated to providing our customers with the
best possible solutions for gaining information from documents, whether
they reside on the open internet or within the enterprise in intranets
or file systems. We prefer the term “information automation” to “search
engine,” because we believe that value is not gained from merely finding
documents of interest, but also from collaboration and sharing, from
analysis, and from management of the huge asset that documents represent
in enterprises today.
What you sell / services you offer (brief description of your company):
We offer two “shrink wrap” products, as well as access to our
technologies in programmatic form, through a series of application
programming interfaces (APIs).
The two products are the Deep Query Manager™ and the Deep Federation
Portal™. Deep Query Manager is a analysts’ workbench, providing search,
harvest, analysis, and collaboration capabilities for all forms of
documents, including automated configuration and access to document
contained in surface websites, Deep Web (sometimes known as the
invisible web), and file systems. Deep Federation Portal is a tool for
publishing the results of multiple harvest, with documents placed
dynamically into a subject tree (or taxonomy), as well as allowing
advanced search based on keywords and metadata.

previous jobs / companies?
Leading a team of people, whether it was a project team, a department,
or an enterprise has been my aspiration throughout my career. I enjoy
the responsibility, and the freedom of action and direction that come
with that leadership. In prior companies, I have held numerous middle
management positions at Atlantic Richfield (now part of BP), been a
Principal at Lante Corporation and CSC Services, and a Sr. Vice
President at Bank of America. I also worked as an independent
consultant for several years.
