All sorts of intimate apparel, we sell 220 different brands, 34,000 different items which we ship to 66 countries.

Have you always wanted to run your own business? What were some of your previous jobs / companies?

This is my third start up, I originally built up a nationwide paging company, I built up a company networking together estate agents. Then I started figleaves.com in December 1998.

Have you got any qualifications? Please tell us about yourself academically?

I have an electronics degree from Cambridge, an MBA from a University in Canada. I also have lot of life experience as I am 56.

How / when did the idea of your website / company come about?

Originally I had invested in a company that built online shops for other people, basically I was the investor. I got frustrated with sending cheques every month. So I took over running the company.

Somebody suggested we sell things for women; we started selling perfume and underwear, then dropped the perfume to concentrate on the underwear. We now supply underwear to both men and women.

If you could give readers of this book one piece of advice what would it be?
