To provide unusual peace related objects to the public for sale.  

 

What you sell / services you offer (brief description of your company): 

We sell hippie and 60's type products. Tie dye shirts and a lot of peace sign items, which is our biggest seller.  

 

Have you always wanted to run your own business? What were some of your previous jobs / companies? 

Yes, I am a wetland scientist with a degree in environmental science. I am also a real estate broker and own our company with my husband.  


Have you got any qualifications?  

BS in Env. Science.

How / when did the idea of your website / company come about?

My husband who was soon to be at that time... owned and operated www.thebowman.com. He got me interested in the idea of selling things on the web. I have a peace sign hanging from my car window and as he was telling me about the business, he said I could sell anything on the web that I wanted to, like peace signs. So that's what I did. Eventually, I gave up my environmental job as a wetland scientist and did that full time.  

 

If you could give readers of this book one piece of advice when starting up a business, what would it be? 

Stick at it and be persistent.  

 

Who are your role models / mentors and why? 

My husband who loves the entrepreneur aspect of life as much as I do.

Excluding yours, what company / website do you like / admire the most?  

overstock.com, amazon.com, office web sites..... pretty much all of the web. What a great invention.
