Have you always wanted to run your own business? What were some of your
previous jobs / companies?
First job – 40 years ago at a Taco Joe fast food.
Other positions include –
Advertising sales – Radio
Marketing department for Health Care company
Oversaw operations for a multi-million dollar career development
company.
I have had a long time desire to own and operate my own business. I find
that I have difficulty working for short sighted people. Often, when I
have worked for others my creativity was stifled.
Have you got any qualifications? Please tell us about yourself
academically?
Some college, certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming. Life
experience.
If you could give readers of this book one piece of advice
when starting up a business, what would it be?
Understand that success has very little to do with luck. It is about
having a vision, taking action and dealing with the ups and downs. Have
a plan. Be willing to put effort into your vision. Know that you will
probably work harder in your own business than you ever will for someone
else.
Who are your role models / mentors and why?
My mother. She is a survivor of the occupation of
Belgium during WWII. She taught me
a lot about doing the right thing no matter what.
Tony Robbins.
Dana Johnson – my boss over 20 years ago. Taught me to never fear the
word NO.
What do you look for in an employee?
Flexibility, creativity, honesty, loyalty to themselves and the vision
of the company.
