WorldNetDaily.com can best
be explained by its mission statement:
"WorldNetDaily.com is an
independent news site created to capitalize on new media technology,
to reinvigorate and revitalize the role of the free press as a
guardian of liberty, an exponent of truth and justice, an
uncompromising disseminator of news.
Founded by Joseph and
Elizabeth Farah in May 1997, it is now a leading Internet news site
in both traffic and influence.
Your name:
Joseph Farah
Position / title:
Founder and CEO
Company name:
WorldNetDaily.com
Website:
www.wnd.com
Your company / website vision statement / goal:
WorldNetDaily.com is an independent news site created to capitalize
on new media technology, to reinvigorate and revitalize the role of
the free press as a guardian of liberty, an exponent of truth and
justice, an uncompromising disseminator of news.
WorldNetDaily.com performs this function by remaining faithful to
the central role of a free press in a free society: as a watchdog
exposing government waste, fraud, corruption and abuse of power -
the mission envisioned by our founders and protected in the First
Amendment of the Constitution.
What you sell / services you offer (brief description of your
company):
WorldNetDaily.com is a free news site, the largest of all those news
agencies expressly organized as Internet companies. It is supported
by a combination of advertising and our own e-commerce activities,
including the first book publishing enterprise by an Internet
content company, a monthly magazine and premium online services.
Have you always wanted to run your own business? What were some of
your previous jobs / companies?
My background is mostly in running daily newspapers.
Have you got any qualifications? Please tell us about yourself
academically?
In addition to serving as CEO, I write a daily column for WND, a
twice-weekly column for Creators Syndicate and host a nationally
syndicated talk-radio show for Radio America. I am also the founder
and co-publisher of WND Books, a publishing venture that has
produced several New York Times best sellers in the last three
years.
I have written for such publications as the Wall Street Journal,
Jerusalem Post, National Review, TV Guide, Reason, Los Angeles
Times, Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Sun-Times and
a host of other national, international and regional publications. I
was the co-author, with U.S. Rep. Richard Pombo, of "This Land is
Our Land" (1996), and in 1994 collaborated with Rush Limbaugh on the
No. 1 New York Times best seller "See, I Told You So." My newest
book is "Taking America Back," published in 2003. NBC television,
New World Entertainment and other media giants have sought my
expertise as a media consultant. I made a name for myself with
traditional daily newspapers prior to his founding of WorldNetDaily
- running the Sacramento Union, directing the news operation of the
Los Angeles Herald Examiner for six years and serving as editor in
chief of a group of California dailies and weeklies.
How / when did the idea of your website / company come about?
Founded in 1997, WorldNetDaily.com's editorial policy reflects the
old-fashioned notion that the principal role of the free press in a
free
society is to serve as a watchdog on government - to expose
corruption, fraud, waste and abuse wherever and whenever it is
found. Its phenomenal growth is directly due to WorldNetDaily's
editorial formula - "credible, fearless and independent."
If you could give readers of this book one piece of advice what
